About

Membership of Round Table is open to young men between the ages of 18 and 40. The imposition of an age
limit with automatic retirement at the end of the Table year (i.e. last day of February) in which a member
reaches his fortieth birthday has given to Round Table a special quality. A constant flow of new members
and a constant awareness that time is running out, ensures that Round Table remains a vigorous, and
dynamic organisation. Its effectiveness however depends upon the quality of its members. Membership, like
matrimony, should not be entered upon “lightly, want only or unadvisedly”. Members must be sincerely
resolved to play a full part in the activities of Round Table, eager to meet and know a wide range of fellow
citizens and anxious to serve the community in which they live. Acceptance of an invitation to become a
member is acceptance of an obligation to observe the provisions of the constitution, but much more than
that, it is acceptance of an obligation to strive for the higher standards in every activity that is undertaken,
both within Round Table and outside.
The most successful Tabler is one that combines the desire to serve the community in an atmosphere of fun
and fellowship within the social aspects of Tabling. In conclusion the most successful Tabler is often he
whose zest for Table is of a joyous, even boisterous, kind.
